The opportunity

We’re dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality legal services to families across New Zealand. With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to client satisfaction, our firm specialises in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, relationship property, and domestic violence. We are looking for an experienced Family Lawyer to join our supportive and dynamic team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation on a broad range of family law matters including, but not limited to, divorce/separation, child custody, guardianship disputes, adoption, and property settlements.
  • Advocate for clients in Family Court, mediation, and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Draft legal documents including affidavits, applications, submissions, and court pleadings.
  • Manage a diverse caseload while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring timely communication and updates.
  • Collaborate with a team of solicitors and support staff to deliver seamless legal services.
  • Stay up to date with changes in family law legislation and regulations in New Zealand.

About you

  • 3+ years PQE.
  • Strong legal acumen, coupled with exceptional strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-driven and positive, proactive mindset, coupled with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Community-minded and interested in broader issues of family law development and social policy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise with clients during challenging situations.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with a proven track record of achieving favourable outcomes for clients.
  • A positive mentoring style and active interest in the success of junior lawyers.
  • Business development skills and an affinity for networking.
