Looking for a role where your expertise is valued, your impact is visible, and your team supports you every step of the way?

At McVeagh Fleming, we offer more than just a job — we offer a place where you can grow, lead, and make a meaningful difference.

We’re proud to foster a collegial, inclusive workplace where people build long-standing careers through mentorship, learning, and professional development. As part of our team, our HR Manager will contribute to work that supports individuals, families, and businesses across New Zealand and beyond — all while being part of a firm that values integrity, innovation, and the wellbeing of its people.

Based in the Auckland CBD and covering our two other offices in Albany and Manukau, you will enjoy the flexibility to work from all three locations.

What you’ll do

As HR Manager, you’ll lead a small, capable team (HR Administrator and Recruitment Specialist) and report directly to the General Manager. Your key responsibilities will include:

•    Managing the full employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding to performance, development, and retention.
•    Providing expert guidance on handling employee relations matters.
•    Driving initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
•    Overseeing payroll, health and safety, and wellbeing programs.
•    Using HR metrics to inform decisions and enhance performance.
•    Maintaining policies that reflect current legal standards and best practices.

What you’ll bring

You’re a seasoned HR generalist with a pragmatic, commercial mindset and a passion for people. You’re confident navigating complex situations, building trust, and influencing outcomes.

•    Ideally 8+ years’ HR experience, ideally in legal or professional services.
•    Proven leadership and coaching skills.
•    Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
•    Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
•    A collaborative, solution-focused approach.
•    High integrity and discretion with sensitive information.

Why McVeagh Fleming?

We know that people are the heart of any successful organisation. At McVeagh Fleming, you’ll enjoy:

•    A supportive, inclusive culture that values your voice and celebrates success.
•    Opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.
•    A comprehensive benefits package including life, trauma, and income protection insurance.
•    A workplace that prioritises work-life balance and employee wellbeing.

“If you’re a dynamic HR leader ready to make an impact, we encourage you to apply.”
