Looking for a role where your skills are valued, your work makes a difference, and your team has your back? At McVeagh Fleming, we are offering more than just a job — we’re offering a place where you can thrive.

About Us

McVeagh Fleming is a well-established and forward-thinking law firm dedicated to providing exceptional legal services across a range of practice areas. Our commitment to client success is matched by our passion for fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment where talent thrives.

About the Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Business Application Manager to join our firm and make a real impact. We’re looking for someone who sees the potential in the systems we already have and is passionate about helping our legal teams unlock that value through high-quality, engaging training. If you’re excited by innovation and eager to embrace AI and the transformative opportunities it brings to law firms, we’d love to hear from you.

In this stand alone role, you’ll take the lead on implementing, integrating, and optimising our business applications to support our strategic goals. You’ll streamline processes, improve productivity, and champion smarter system use across the firm—all while building strong relationships with stakeholders and ensuring our data remains secure and reliable.

Based at our CBD office, you’ll also spend time with our Albany and Manukau teams, ensuring consistency, connection, and a firm wide approach to technology.

If you’re motivated by the chance to shape how a firm uses technology—driving capability, efficiency, and meaningful change—this is an exciting opportunity to truly own and grow a pivotal role.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Collaborate with stakeholders to understand application needs and provide strategic recommendations.
•    Define and enforce development standards and best practices.
•    Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with application vendors and service providers.
•    Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues as needed.
•    Manage ongoing maintenance, updates, and support of business applications for optimal performance.
•    Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and support growth.
•    Coordinate with vendors and the IT team for seamless data flow between applications.
•    Develop and deliver end-user training programmes to maximise adoption.
•    Ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance through proper governance practices.
•    Managing and overseeing all firm templates, macros and precedents, including the creation of new templates and precedents as needed.

What you'll bring:
You will bring proven experience as a Business Applications Manager or similar role, strong technical proficiency, and the ability to lead projects, manage integrations, and drive technology strategies that enhance efficiency and growth.

•    Experience with Document Management Systems, Practice Management Systems, M365, and SharePoint.
•    Experience in managing relationships with software vendors and third-party service providers, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
•    Experience with application implementation methodologies and best practices.
•    Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
•    Ability to assess and mitigate risks associated with business application projects, including data security, compliance, and system stability.
•    Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex application-related issues.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
•    Up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and industry trends in business applications.
•    Proven ability to manage budgets and make sound decisions to optimise application investments.
•    iManage experience preferred but not essential.

If you’re ready to take the lead and help us harness technology to power our future, we’d love to hear from you!
