About the Opportunity 

Our Private Client team based in the Manukau office is seeking a full-time (possible part-time hours for the right candidate) Senior Solicitor to join their practice. 

The role involves managing a diverse caseload, with a strong emphasis on trusts, wills, estate administration, and other areas of general private practice. The successful candidate will also have experience in transactional matters such as conveyancing, and preferably some commercial understanding. 

This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where your contribution will be meaningful and valued.

Key Responsibilities
•    Managing files from opening to closing, ensuring all deadlines are met.
•    Drafting and preparing legal correspondence and documentation.
•    Providing advice on personal assets and succession planning structures, including formation and ongoing administration of trusts.
•    Drafting wills, advance directives and memoranda of wishes as part of an estate plan.
•    Liaising with clients, professionals, and team members to ensure smooth transactions.
•    Providing additional administrative support when required.

What you'll bring
•    4-5 years PQE working across a wide range of property and private client matters, with at least 1 year of Trust experience. 
•    Working knowledge of the Trusts Act 2019 and ability to work on complex trust matters
•    Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, can-do attitude to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
•    Excellent confident communication skills, with a client-centred approach and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
•    Excellent judgement from both a legal and risk perspective and a natural orientation towards changes, improvement and new ideas.
•    A client-first mindset, with the ability to build rapport and act as a trusted advisor.
•    Strong drafting and advisory skills to deliver clear, practical legal solutions 
•    A drive to grow your practice through business development and networking.
•    A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation in legal service delivery.
•    The ability to efficiently and thoroughly review Trust deeds and associated documents.
•    A good understanding of financial statements.
•    A holistic approach to ascertaining clients' needs.
