About the Opportunity 

Our City office is seeking to hire a Special Counsel – Corporate & Commercial to join our Property & Corporate team.

This senior role requires a seasoned practitioner with extensive experience in corporate conveyancing, commercial agreements, and business structuring. The ideal candidate will bring a strong existing client bank and demonstrate a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

About the Role

This senior position offers increased independence and the opportunity to lead complex corporate and commercial matters, manage high-value projects, and deliver expert legal advice.

•    Provide expert legal advice to clients on complex matters, ensuring high-quality service and outcomes
•    Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating intricate commercial contracts, including sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, and joint ventures in alignment with the client's objectives.
•    Advising on company structures, mergers and acquisitions, and attendant risks. 
•    Advising businesses on corporate governance and any regulatory oversight/compliance of the sector in which they operate.
•    Conducting due diligence on commercial matters, including relevant data searches and regulatory compliance.
•    Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team.

About you 

You are proactive, collaborative, and ready to contribute to a forward-thinking legal team that values initiative and excellence.

•    A commercially savvy lawyer with 8-10 years PQE working across a wide range of corporate and commercial law.  
•    Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, can-do attitude to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
•    Excellent communication skills, with a client-centred approach and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
•    Commercially minded with a desire to grow your own practice via external marketing and networking.
•    Excellent judgement from both a legal and risk perspective and a natural orientation towards changes, improvement and new ideas. 
•    Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring or managing junior staff, will be highly valued.
