About the Opportunity 

Our Property & Commercial team in the Manukau office is looking for a full-time Senior Associate who’s ready to step into a role and enjoy a fast-paced and engaging work environment where your contribution truly matters. Real work, real people, real impact.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Senior Associate to develop their career and work towards a partnership. We offer a wide range of commercial property matters, a significant role in growing the firm’s client base, as well as excellent training, support and development opportunities.

About the Role

The role offers a diverse and rewarding mix of work, with a particular focus on property and commercial matters, with a significant scope for direct client engagement, as well as the opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive and experienced team environment.

•    Negotiating and drafting commercial property sale and purchase agreements;
•    Drafting, negotiating and advising in relation to all types of leasing, including retail, office, industrial, rural, general commercial and ground leasing;
•    Negotiating and advising in relation to funding documentation for property transactions;
•    Negotiating and drafting all forms of legal documents for large scale commercial and residential property developments and subdivisions;
•    Negotiating and drafting documents for infrastructure and Public Works Act Projects;
•    Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering tailored end-to-end legal solutions adhering to the highest professional standards.

About you

You’re eager to continue learning, ready to contribute, and looking for a role with potential progression to partnership by demonstrating leadership skills, the vision and ambition to help the firm grow and achieve its long-term success.

•    A commercially savvy lawyer with 10-12 years PQE working across a wide range of property and commercial law.  
•    A strategic specialist with a focus on commercial compliance requirements and/or financial service provider legislation. 
•    Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, can-do attitude to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
•    Excellent communication skills, with a client-centred approach and the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
•    Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring or managing junior staff, will be highly valued.
•    Commercially minded with a desire to grow your own practice via external marketing and networking.
•    Excellent judgement from both a legal and risk perspective and a natural orientation towards changes, improvement and new ideas.
