The opportunity

We're looking for an enthusiastic employment lawyer at Senior Solicitor or Associate level to join our growing Employment team in our CBD office. You will be involved in contentious and non-contentious matters across the entire spectrum of employment law. For example, you will be advising and representing employee and employer clients of various industries in relation to personal grievances, disciplinary and performance management matters, restructures and redundancies, health and safety queries, post-employment obligations, exit and settlement negotiations, general ER compliance and advice, and any other employment law matters. A lot of our work happens 'behind the scenes' as trusted advisors but you will also have ample opportunity to advocate for your clients in mediation or in the Employment Relations Authority.

Whilst you will be able to work independently with little supervision when needed, you will also have the full support of our friendly team and will enjoy a collaborative workplace.

What you'll bring
•    3+ years PQE in Employment Law
•    A robust understanding and working knowledge of employment law in New Zealand
•    A good strategic mind, paired with commercial acumen and pragmatism
•    Excellent customer-service attitude and a focus on solutions
•    Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
•    The ability and empathy to interact confidently with a wide range of people
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
•    A growth mindset and passion for continuous improvement in your practice of the law and the way in which you deliver client service
•    Experience in representing clients in mediation or the Employment Relations Authority is welcome but not necessarily required.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied diet of work that is challenging, interesting and rewarding. We have a strong culture based on collaboration and growth for both the team and you as an individual. We are committed to providing a supportive, family-friendly environment. Get in touch to learn more about this exciting new opportunity.

To be eligible to apply, you must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and meet any entry requirements if you're outside the country.  For advice on obtaining a New Zealand work or residence visa and our entry requirements, visit www.immigration.govt.nz.
